In July 2024, the SEAWPM had the honour of being invited by H.E. Alounkeo Kittikhoun, ASEAN Special Envoy to Myanmar, at the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs to share insights on current developments and ongoing mediation efforts. We are grateful for His Excellency’s peace leadership and for his continued support and partnership with the SEAWPM.

The Southeast Asian Women Peace Mediators were recognized as relevant stakeholders in the implementation process of the Joint Statement on Promoting of Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in the Chairman’s statement of the 42nd ASEAN summit in May 2023. We greatly appreciate Her Excellency’s leadership in the region and are honored to have her unwavering support for SEAWPM. 

The Southeast Asian Women Peace Mediators are honored to partner with the Embassy of Belgium in Jakarta in supporting efforts to engage in mediation and conflict resolution in Myanmar. We look forward to continuously working together to pursue sustainable peace in Myanmar and the region.
